At Cream Cornwall, our love for a fishy underwater world is boundless, so it’s no surprise that our latest collection dives deep into the ocean’s beauty. Rebecca has been capturing the essence of Cornish marine life, sketching everything from flatfish to squid and skate, and given them a unique Cream Cornwall twist.

Our “Catch of the Day” range introduces a fresh colour palette that mirrors the lively hues found beneath the waves, perfect for brightening those dark days and leading us into the long, sunny days of summer. In classic Cream Cornwall style, we’ve reimagined familiar English fish, playing with colour and scale to bring vibrancy and fun to your surroundings.

Classic fish, like the skate, plaice and one of my personal favourites, John Dory have been stylised with shape and colour to give them a tropical feel.

I love this look, it reminds me of summer days by the sea. I started playing around with this idea early in 2024 when I was in Margaret River, Western Australia, my other home.

With its Mediterranean climate and endless sunshine, it’s easy to embrace colours I wouldn’t normally reach for on a blustery Cornish winter’s day. But the best part? They work just as beautifully in the UK. 
We all need a little cheer, and whether it’s our colourful tea towel to lift your kitchen or a gorgeous tote for your everyday essentials, this collection is designed to make you smile.

These beautiful fish were the inspiration behind the Catch Of The Day collection, marking the beginning of a playful exploration of colour and pattern. Using gouache, I experimented with bold, unexpected combinations, pushing beyond traditional tones to create something fresh and vibrant.

Now, these original paintings have found a special place in my daughter Anna’s home in Kalbarri, Western Australia, where the Mediterranean-like climate and endless sunshine make them feel right at home. The colours sing in the bright light, and it’s wonderful to see them living in a space that celebrates the same love of the sea that inspired them.
