Introducing There She Blows, a new homewares collection of cushions and lampshades that work in harmony with our much-loved Shipwreck Collection, infusing your coastal home with moody seascapes and the wild beauty of the ocean.

A cozy seating area in a nautical-themed café, featuring cushions and lamps adorned with maritime illustrations. The cushions depict ships, sailors, sea creatures, and a lighthouse, while the lamps showcase a large octopus wrapping around a lighthouse. The area has wooden tables, chairs, and wall décor, including framed photographs and plaques, enhancing the seaside ambiance. A model ship rests on the windowsill above the seating area.

For years, our Shipwreck Collection has stood as a beacon of timeless style, its deep, muted tones echoing the mystery of the sea. And yet, we’ve long sought the perfect companions to these homeware pieces, searching for imagery that captures the spirit of the coast in a new way. It wasn’t until now, with the creation of There She Blows, that we’ve found that perfect balance where art, nature, and storytelling come together. We have reimagined the whale as a friendly giant, playing with mythical ocean beasts, who rules the oceans which humour and grace, enjoying the power they have and imbuing happiness & joy to all around them.

A decorative cushion featuring a maritime scene. The design shows a large whale emerging from the ocean, spouting water near a sailing ship with billowing sails. Below the whale, a swimmer and an octopus are visible in the waves, with a crescent moon shining in the dark sky above. The cushion rests on a light wooden surface, enhancing the nautical theme.

Inspired by the raw, naïve artistry of Alfred Wallis, we’ve woven his spirit into this new collection. Born in 1855, Wallis, a fisherman from St Ives, painted his memories of the sea with a childlike wonder, crafting boats, harbours, and coastal life from household paint and scraps of cardboard. His “dirty” palette, his whimsical sense of scale, and his heartfelt portrayal of life by the sea have become treasures of the art world, and in There She Blows, we hope we've captured some of that same magic.

A collage of five nautical-themed paintings by Alfred Wallis , each depicting maritime scenes. The artwork features sailboats, lighthouses, fishing boats, and coastal landscapes. The paintings showcase various ships navigating through calm and turbulent waters, with some images focusing on harbors or coastal villages. The color palette is muted, with shades of blue, green, and earthy tones. The style reflects a folk or primitive art aesthetic, emphasising simple forms and bold shapes.

We’ve long wanted to introduce the great whales into our work. These majestic creatures, loved by all at Cream, offer us a canvas for playful storytelling. In this collection, we’ve had fun with scale - tiny boats juxtaposed against enormous whales, creating a sense of awe and joy. It is a playful yet poignant nod to the mysteries of the deep, where the whale reigns supreme.

Our research led us to the rich traditions of American Folk Art, with its vivid narratives of the sea. Yet, while we admired the style, we felt the need to rewrite the story. Instead of scenes of whales being hunted, we’ve reimagined them as the true monarchs of the ocean, gliding beneath the waves with grace and freedom. No longer the prey, these whales are the joyful rulers of their watery domain.

A collage of whale-themed maritime art, featuring a mix of paintings, sketches, and a wooden sculpture. The centerpiece is a black wooden whale sculpture with a small figure riding on top. Surrounding it are various artworks, including an illustration of a whaling ship chasing a whale, a vintage painting of a ship at sea with whaleboats in pursuit, and an old handwritten document featuring a whale drawing. The pieces reflect a historical and folk art style, highlighting the connection between sailors and whaling culture.

There She Blows captures the playful spirit of the whales as they rise to the surface, their songs filling the night air beneath a crescent moon. Each piece tells a story of marine life, where creatures frolic and dance in the moonlight, spinning tales of the deep blue that stir the imagination. This collection invites you to bring the myth and magic of the ocean into your home, celebrating the beauty of the natural world with artistry that sings of the coast.

This homewares collection is perfect for those who cherish the sea and seek to weave its serenity and wonder into their homes, There She Blows is more than a collection—it’s an invitation to dream of oceans untamed and whales unchained, rulers of the sea in all their glory.
